UK Immigration Authorities Issues Extra Entry Permits for UCL Foreign Scholars

Numerous overseas learners will successfully take up their guaranteed university positions following talks involving the UK immigration department and UCL finished with the government granting additional entry permits.

Immigration Allowance Issues

Several hundred of learners, many from East Asia, had been left in limbo after UCL underestimated the interest for study spots this academic year and went over its allocation of study acceptance confirmation online certificates permitted by the UK visa officials.

Educational Establishment Statement of Remorse and Compensation

the institution issued an apology to those impacted, advising them it was "extremely sorry for the disruption and uncertainty", and offering to pay £1,000 costs for requests made through UK Visa and Immigration's "fast-track option".

We're delighted to guarantee our affected foreign students that they can at last start their courses at UCL.

Extraordinary Interest

The university said "an extraordinary surge in interest" was the reason behind the surplus intake, and had originally informed learners with secured positions that they should delay until next year, resulting in many to voice dissatisfaction they encountered economic disadvantages after pre-paying for travel and lodging.

Positive Resolution

After discussions between UCL and the UK visa officials at the close of last Friday, scholars were told that they would be granted entry permits ultimately.

A university representative for University College London said: "We sincerely express regret to all those who have been concerned by the ongoing uncertainty and we are extremely grateful for their understanding. Our personnel are now moving rapidly to reach out to scholars individually with updates and support.

Learner Feedback

A number of applicants said they had been sent emails from UCL within the past 48 hours indicating their CAS documents would be issued, a key requirement to be awarded a study permit. A few reported they had yet to been given confirmation.

One student expressed: "I'm ecstatic to be able to pursue education in the Britain. We were advised conflicting messages since recent weeks, it was very stressful. I was already committed to covering costs for lodging in the city, with no repayment offered, so I am quite thankful."

National Effect

About 200 learners from East Asia were concerned, with some already in the United Kingdom at the conclusion of last month for the start of the academic session. Those on taught postgraduate courses were advised they required to be in attendance by 10 October or lose their position.

We're extremely grateful for your patience with this matter and we are extremely sorry for the disruption and doubt which this will have generated you.
